Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add the vegetable oil (or lard) and warm water to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough using your hands or a mixer until it is smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls, roughly the size of a golf ball, and let them rest for 15 to 30 minutes.
Cooking
- On a floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook each tortilla for about 1 minute on each side, or until golden brown spots appear.
- Remove from the skillet and keep warm until you’re ready to serve.
Notes
