Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the potatoes to about 1/4 inch thick. Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
Cooking
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper before removing from heat.
- Grease a baking dish. Layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the cooked beef. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese on top. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
- Pour the beef broth (and the milk, if using) over the entire dish.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 35-40 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Serving
- Let it rest for 5 minutes, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve!
