  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Reduce if using salted butter.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour blend.
  • to taste pinch flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and salt, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Scoop small balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.
  6. Gently press each ball down and sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
  8. Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be enjoyed warm or stored for later. They make a great treat with tea or coffee or as a gift in a decorative box. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze unbaked dough balls for longer storage.
