Ingredients
  

For the Toasts
  • 2 slices slices of your choice of bread (white, whole grain, sourdough)
  • 1 large large egg
  • ½ cup grated cheese (cheddar, gruyere, or your favorite)
  • 1 tsp finely chopped fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
  • to taste none Salt and black pepper
  • pinch none pinch of cayenne (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (or your air fryer to 370°F).
  2. Lightly toast the bread in a toaster or by broiling for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  3. In a bowl, crack the egg and lightly whisk it. Add in the grated cheese, chopped herbs, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using), and mix until combined.
  4. Evenly spread the egg and cheese mixture over the toasted bread, making sure to reach the edges.
Cooking
  1. For the oven: Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and puffed.
  2. For the air fryer: Cook for 5-7 minutes until bubbly and set; you can use foil or parchment if needed.

Notes

Best served hot out of the oven or air fryer. Garnish with extra herbs, hot sauce, or chili flakes for an added kick. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for a crispy texture.
