- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onions until the beef is browned. Drain the excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef, shredded cheddar cheese, cream of mushroom soup, and milk. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into a greased casserole dish.
- Layer the tater tots on top of the beef mixture, arranging them for an even coverage.
- Bake the casserole for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot and top with pickles, ketchup, and mustard if desired.
